Pain is technically a part of life. Mild pains such as headaches, back pain, and joint pains are but common. But ordinary as they are, it is not right to just endure them and wait for them to pass. There are over-the-counter medicines and natural remedies that you can use to ease the pain. But between these two options, the use of natural pain relief is becoming very popular. This is because of the fact the natural way of healing proposes no acute side effects to the patient, unlike some of the over-the-counter medicines that are available today.

Natural Pain Relief

The unpredictable side effects of chemically formulated pain medicines are the main reason why natural pain relief remedies are considered to be the better option by a lot people. Not only they are as effective as prescription medicines, but they also provide an almost instant relief when applied topically or administered to the body. These herbal pain remedies can definitely stop the pain and don’t simply mask it.

Natural pain relief is type of remedy created out of all-natural ingredients. They are effective for both severe and chronic pain conditions. There are natural pain remedies that can be applied topically while others are meant to be taken on a regular basis.

While they can’t be regarded as direct drug substitute, they can truly help the people who are suffering from pains because the natural effects of these remedies are received well by the body.

The components of natural remedy for pain are ingredients derived from herbs and natural medicinal substances. For topical pain relief, menthol and Aloe Vera are usually the primarily ingredient. Menthol has been widely used in both Chinese and Indian traditional medicines as an active pain reliever. When applied on the problem areas, menthol works on the skin’s nerve endings to provide an almost immediate healing effect.

Aloe Vera is also added to natural pain relief remedies available in the market today. It’s a popular herb that can help reduce pain and inflammation. It also speeds up the healing process and works perfectly with menthol.

Aside from these two medicinal components, natural oils such as eucalyptus oil and sage oil are also used. Extracts of certain fruits and herbs prove to be beneficial as well. The studies based on natural medicine determines the right combinations and proportions of these ingredients to create a highly effective natural pain relief remedy, which is also very beneficial in keeping a person in pink of health at all times.

Pain can be classified either as chronic or acute. Acute pain is the type that goes away and doesn’t last long. Chronic pain, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of acute pain. It is the type of pain that lasts for six months or more and may come back again in the future. The root cause of chronic pain is hard to determine. Oftentimes, doctors are more concerned in treating the problem instead of finding out what’s really causing it. This is the reason why chronic pain relief is quite elusive to some.

Chronic Pain Relief

However, certain therapies and medicines are effective against chronic pain. There are also over-the-counter medicines and herbal pain reliever alternatives that can be used. Patients have many options when it comes to health problems like this, as there are different brands of antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and pain relievers in the market today.

Physical therapies can also be used to achieve chronic pain relief. Physical therapies refer to the low impact exercises such as stretching, waking, and swimming, which can help improve your condition a lot. When done right, these activities can help reduce the pain associated with your present condition. Ideally, such exercises should be performed under the supervision of a trained physical therapist.

Behavioral and occupational therapy may also help. Occupational therapy for chronic and neck pain relief teaches the patient to condition and pace himself when doing ordinary tasks so that the pain won’t have to recur. Behavioral therapy is a process more concentrated on the relaxing techniques that can be used to help keep stress away.

Chronic pain relief may require a total change of lifestyle too. This means that you have to eat the right types of food, sleep early during the night, quit smoking, and cut on alcohol intake. When your body is in its best condition, medicines are most effective. And they can provide you with that elusive total chronic pain relief you’ve been wishing for all along.

Doctors can help greatly in your quest to achieve chronic pain relief. A dialogue with your doctor can bring forward the best treatment procedure for you. As much as possible, document your pain as to where it occurs, how intense, and how often. Talk about what makes the condition worse or better.

Your doctor would be able to come up with a diagnosis after evaluating your health record, history, and present condition. He would be able to prescribe the right medicines and necessary therapies that you need to fully eliminate chronic pain from your system.

Fibromyalgia - just from the name of this disease itself, people might think it is something that is very hard to treat. Well, not necessarily. Fibromyalgia pain relief is now very much accessible to everybody. But before we get into that, it is best that fibromyalgia be defined, described, and talked about first. Simply stated, fibromyalgia is a disease of the musculoskeletal system. It is chronic in nature and has symptoms such as joint pains, fatigue, IBS, and headache, among many others.

Fibromyalgia Pain Relief

While foreign sounding, this disease is very common to people who follow an active lifestyle and a busy schedule. It is the disease of people that are suffering from stress with their everyday tasks. Fibromyalgia is related to other diseases of the musculoskeletal system, like arthritis and chronic fatigue.

The ultimate fibromyalgia pain relief for a patient is dependent on the diagnosis performed on him or her by a qualified health practitioner. There are a range of possible medicines and herbal pain relief remedies for this disease. Oftentimes, doctors prescribe sleeping aids and muscle relaxants to calm the body and the muscular and skeletal system in general. Anti-depressants can also be considered as fibromyalgia pain relief medicines. Oftentimes, these drugs are prescribed by doctors to raise the patient’s mood while treating the disease.

The right exercises would help a fibromyalgia patient to recover from his illness. For this, a licensed physical therapist can help. Simple exercises targeted on the right muscle groups will reduce the pain suffered by the patient and could even prevent the chronic condition from recurring. Stretching and walking exercises can help reduce tension in the muscle areas, as well as put fatigue in check.

Natural fibromyalgia pain relief, on the other hand, is focused on giving the patient with food items that are rich in magnesium and manganese. People who are suffering from this disease are usually diagnosed with low levels of these minerals. So when enough of these essential minerals are administered into the body, the chances of fibromyalgia recurring is much lower. These two minerals can also boost the functions of the thyroid gland.

Right now, there’s what is called holistic fibromyalgia pain relief. A lot of patients put a big trust to these alternative herbal medicine methods of treating the disease. Several users of such remedies even attest to the effectiveness of the holistic product they’ve tried. However, natural or holistic medicines should not be used to replace conventional drugs. Natural herbal remedies are best used in conjunction with your doctor’s prescription medicines for best results and speedy recovery.

If you’re like anybody else, neck pain may be one of the reasons why you have to skip school or work. Stiff neck is a very common problem and the discomfort it brings start right at the moment you wake up. The pain associated to stiff neck is very similar to chronic neck pains. And the moment this type of pain starts, the quest for neck pain relief becomes inevitable.

Neck Pain Relief

Chronic neck pain is usually a direct result of spasm or strain on the neck muscles. And the pain can extend all the way down to the shoulders. If there were inflammation on the neck joints, the pain could strike twice as harsh. Pain on the neck area are usually brought about by improper sleeping position, twisted neck, wrong posture, stress, and neck injuries.

Neck pain relief can be achieved by using the right medications and avoiding posture and sleeping habits that could trigger the problem. Neck pain is a condition that you don’t want to go through for a long time. It is very discomforting and can affect the way you go about your daily tasks.

So if you suffer from chronic neck pain, try to schedule a consultation with your doctor. Ask him for the best neck pain relief available today. He could provide you with prescription medicines or recommend herbal pain relief supplements. But he has to perform the initial diagnosis of your health condition. Over-the-counter medicines may help. You can go for either topical treatments or for oral medications to help you cope with intense neck pains.

Neck pain can also be relieved by using specialty pillows and products to support the neck. These are for individuals who have trouble sleeping properly at night and require help with it comes to posture. While most of these products are not really necessary, they can help you a lot in promoting that wonderful sleep you want to achieve every night.

Proper bearing when standing up, sitting, or lying down are important to prevent neck pains. If you have to sit in front of the computer all day, make sure that you don’t slump your back and your neck in front of the computer monitor. Same goes if you’re watching TV. The screen should be within your eye level to avoid neck pains.

Neck pain relief is not that elusive. It all boils down to taking your medicines or herbal pain relief alternatives, keeping a good posture, and exercising your head and neck regularly to keep your healthy, active blood flowing.

How are herbs used to bring about pain relief? The answer to that question can be as simple as drinking a cup of tea (herbal tea that is). Herbal pain relief is being sought out many individuals these days. Many herbalists use plant’s seeds, leaves or even flowers for treating some of the more common health problems. For many of the herbs that are used to treat certain conditions little is known on what exactly is the healing agent in these herbs. Therefore a trained herbalist can be a great source for recommending such herbs for pain relief.

Herbal Pain Relief Uses

The different herbs and plants can have many ingredients in them. It is most likely the mixture of these components that brings out the beneficial effects of these plants. There are several factors that can have an effect on how well these herbs and plants perform as a form of herbal pain relief.

Weather conditions is one aspect that affects how well these herbs will work as a form of pain relief. Certain climate conditions can alter certain components of these herbs. Also how the plants are picked and further processed can determine how effective they will be as a form of herbal pain medication.

Some herbal pain relief specialists insist on using the plants as a whole rather then the single components for their herbal pain reliever cocktail. Trying to remove the individual components may not be as valuable as the whole plant. Using the entire plant extract will have the majority of the components that will bring about the medicinal effect. It will also help in not introducing as many side effects as compared to the individual components.

On some occasions many different herbs are combined to further increase their effect and decrease any lethal effects. It is therefore recommended that one seek the advice of an herbalist for such preparations. Such individuals are professionals who can give insight and resolve any issues which may arise from herbal pain relief.

Herbal pain relief can be brought about by just consuming a simple herbal tea drink. There are a lot of known health benefits when it comes to herbal tea in the realm of herbal medicines. In today’s article, we’ll cover some of my personal favorite teas including ginger tea, jasmine tea and chamomile tea. Because each tea has a unique health benefit and unique taste, we’ll cover them in sections.

Herbal Pain Relief Tea

Ginger tea possesses a lot of herbal pain relief and medicinal properties. It has been known to promote better digestion, reduce stress and help freshen your breath. People who frequently have stomach aches associated with gas pain can take use of ginger’s capability of neutralizing acids and aiding digestion. Ginger has been known to help relieve symptoms of dizziness, motion sickness, gas pain, nausea and even flatulence.

Jasmine tea is another favorite of mine because it’s a combination of green tea leaves and jasmine flowers. This combines the nice aroma of jasmine with the beneficial antioxidant properties of green tea. Similar to ginger tea, jasmine tea has a history of being used for herbal pain relief. It can aid the digestive system, but is primarily used for its warming and relaxing attributes. Some recent studies have shown that this tea may in fact help lower cholesterol and promote longevity.

Chamomile tea is frequently used at my household due to the fact that it aids people who have trouble sleeping. I don’t take it all the time but only when I need a really good night’s rest. It has natural sedatives and anti-inflammatory properties which provides a calming benefit for those individuals who have anxiety. Similar to ginger and jasmine tea, chamomile tea also aids and promotes the digestive system. One additional benefit of this tea its use as a skin cleanser or compress to improve the look of your skin.

It’s important to take these herbal teas in moderation as with any other herbal pain relief solutions that you decide to try out. Most of these teas can be found at your local grocery store but more readily found at places like Trader Joe’s or other health food stores.

There is a big misconception about stomach aches. The stomach (thank goodness!) doesn’t ache directly but is usually associated with gas pains. Sometimes these gas pains can be very severe resulting in a lot of discomfort. I have some friends who work at hospitals and say how many people come in for one ailment and turns out to be only pain from gas.

Heartburn Herbal Pain Relief

Fortunately, there are a variety of herbal pain relief solutions recommended to deal with stomach aches and also heartburn. Let’s cover heartburn first and then move on to dealing with stomach pains. Herbal relief specialists relate heartburn to a lack of hydrochloric acid or HCL naturally found in the stomach. Some medical professionals say that heartburn, however, is caused by an abundance of acid or too much HCL. There are prescription drugs that try to limit the production of HCL but herbalists look to herbs that can actually increase HCL.

The herb I’m referring to is Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). A couple of ways you can use Dandelion to treat and reduce heartburn include cooking the greens or enjoying them in a salad. You can also cook the dandelion root or even make a vinegar dressing with it. Some people I know make roasted dandelion root and make it into coffee substitute (haven’t tried this one yet but I hear it tastes good). Practically any way you take the dandelion seems to work as herbal pain relief.

Now let’s cover how to deal with a stomach ache or in other words, gas pain. There are a few herbs that provide relief for gas pain. These are called carminatives and the reason they’re called that is because they can make you sing (Carmen). There are a lot of aromatic herbs which are a part of the carminatives group including caraway seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and dill seeds. One of my favorite methods for taking any of these herbs is to take a heaping table spoonful and bring to a boil for about 5 minutes, pour the solution in a cup and drink away.

You can even sweeten it if you like with some cane sugar or honey. Another great herb to try for stomach pain relief is Ginger. It’s an herb that’s readily available at your local grocery store and can be taken as a powder to make tea or a strong brew with a tablespoon of fresh ginger. It’s your choice as to how potent you want to make the drink. My personal favorite is the powdered ginger to make tea to provide fast herbal pain relief.

Dandelion and Ginger are great herbal pain relief alternatives to taking over-the-counter or prescription medication. These can provide fast pain relief to ailments including heartburn and stomach aches caused by gas pain. As always, if the pain is frequent or does not go away within a week or so, I would advise you see a medical professional to rule out any serious conditions.

Ginseng has been claimed to have many health benefits, however, little research has actually been conducted to prove this theory 100%. It’s a plant used for herbal pain relief and is widely available to grow by anyone. The pharmaceutical companies haven’t done many independent trials due to the fact there isn’t much of an incentive for them. Therefore, most of the research that exists was probably done by herbal relief enthusiasts and/or researchers from China.

Ginseng Herbal Pain Relief

There have been many claims that the ginseng herb reduces everyday stress that we all encounter in our daily lives without actually harming the body. Some say that it’s analogous to the effects of alcoholic beverages but no side effects (intoxication). A couple of other benefits of ginseng that some studies have shown include lowering the risk of the influenza virus in the elderly and the claim that this herbal medicine helps fight some forms of cancer. The latter claim has been somewhat successful with animal testing but the same success hasn’t been achieved with humans as of yet.

There various ginseng herbs that are available that serve as a form of herbal pain relief, but red ginseng has a few extra benefits. One of the most prominent benefits include providing relief for impotence. However, the effects are not as plentiful as with prescription drugs such as Viagra or Cialis. There’s also wild ginseng which has the same effects as normal ginseng but is a more powerful herbal relief medicine.

Some studies that have been conducted in China claim that ginseng, in fact, increases quality of life for anyone that takes it, however, this may be more of a tactic to promote the agriculture business in China.

The bottom line is that most people consume ginseng to take advantage of the primary benefit which is reducing stress. The use of ginseng herbs as a type of herbal pain relief can be effective, but by no means is it a magic bean to cure everything.

The use of plants and herbs to treat many common ailments does bring about concerns of their safety. Many of the big drug companies go through extensive and time-consuming trials to determine their safety levels before using such plants. The use of plants as a form of herbal pain relief does introduce issues that need to be addressed.

Herbal Pain Relief Risks

Although many people believe that since the plants are natural they possess no harm to them. That is in fact a misconception that is widely believed by many. Herbal medicine can affect in ways that one may not be aware of. They can interfere with other medications that a person is taking thus affecting its purpose. This can either decrease the effects or in some cases increase it to dangerous levels. A consumer needs to discuss this with their health care advisor before taking any type of herbs as a form of herbal pain relief while on other medications.

Many of the herbs can interfere with body’s own molecules and enzymes. Since the purity of many plants and herbs are not known they can have an adverse side effect on the person. Several herbs are known to decrease one’s blood pressure to very dangerous levels while others can do the opposite. In some instances, some herbs are known to bring about cardiac arrest within minutes of taking them.

They are probably thousands of plants and herbs that possess healing properties. These can cure the common pains such as headaches to treating life-threatening forms of cancer. However, care should be taken to decipher which ones can be beneficial from ones that can have negative effects. Further testing needs to be done to make sure that those plants and herbs used by consumers are safe and effective. Herbal pain relief when administered properly can do wonders for those for which no other methods are available or successful.
